Storage & Year End

I’m often asked, “where do you store it all?”

That is an interesting question since I add new things each year I don’t really know where it will get stored until after we tear it all down.

So, that’s my garage after we tore it all down.  Near the end of the day, it started raining so we rushed to get everything into the garage.  It then took about a week to dry, clean off the mud, sort and pack away.

Some of the props like the column matrix and icicles went straight to the basement.

Others like the mega tree strips needed to be rolled and packed into totes.  The boys did a fantastic job rolling up 32 strands from the mega tree which went into 2 totes. I separate each roll with a piece of cut cardboard to ensure they don’t get tangled or caught on themselves. It also makes packing the tote easier as the roll is on a cardboard tray.

Controllers and boxes come inside to air out any remaining moisture.  They also get a quick wipe down and check for insects that may have tried to take up residence in the box.

Eventually it all makes its way to the basement.  The majority of props fit nicely into one corner.   I think I’ll add a storage shelf at some point in the future to utilize the vertical space.

Everything else ends up in a tote.  I have a total of 15 presently. Each stack is on a rolling dolly to facilitate ease of moving.

Overall, it was an amazing year.  We handed out 980 candy canes and raised $633 for Backpack Impact!  A big thank you to those that donated as well as the many families that gave cookies.  A special shout out to my neighbors in Countryshire that knitted this wonderful hat to match our green sweatshirt.
